NEW BLOG!

Hi I think there are only 2 people that may read this at the moment, and well It was a sewing blog but well I have not been sewing for a long time so it was time to change my blog to more of a diary type thing I guess. I have a new job and well wont be working in the Human Service field at the moment, maybe not for the rest of my life, but one day at at time now. On Monday I will be starting my training to work on the train (training and train haha). This is a BIG switch from what I have done for the past 6 years so I hope that its a good step and step in the right direction. So I figured I would start this from the begining and not just start it in the middle of my travels and new things that are going on so the few that read this dont get confused or lost or think that they have missed something, casue yea I banking on this being very exciting lol.

Monday is the day I start, start being a commuter. I baught my first 10 ride train pass to go to Chicago every day for the next 3 1/2 weeks. No more driving, I really hate driving. I know that I need to catch the 7:07am train so I will be in Chicago by 8:02 and that will/should give me plenty of time to get to my final destination. The first day men have to wear a tie, so my mom figured I needed to wear a womens suit type thing (jacket and matching pants). Now let me tell you, I look like a monkey. I know know why they call them Monkey Suits. My arms are toooo long, people made fun of my big hands in 8th grade so I have always covered them up and well now I have to adjust to my big man hands and everyone looking at them....not fun. I now also own some "dress up" clothing. Like serriorus dress up clothing and not kid dress up clothing, business type stuff, this is all needed for the classroom training. Tomarrrow I have to go and buy some fancy dress up shoes that "have an defined heal, but less then 2 inches of a heal" and yea of all the weekends to have to do this its the weekend of sales and lots off people so maybe I will find a good deal and not get trampled. So yea welcome to the start of my new job! :)

Custum Made Lanyards...I think I have out done myself!

Soooo I am still kind of working on sewing a streight line. So I am making lanyards (Key Holder) things. They are simple and yet use full. I made a custom order (nobody ordered it I am just giving itaway) but I very excited as to how it turned it out.

This is my fabric:
This is his stage name: It was embroyered on there with the help of my mom The Fire things are Iron on decorations cut off of another decoration.
These are iron on guitars the most exciting part was picking out what should go on this.
 Here they are again:
This is where you would be able to put you keys:
This is where you would attach the keys

Old T-shrits....FUN new skirt!

The top section is the bottom of an old shirt.

The bottom part is a retangle of a shirt that I no longer wear.
This used a total of 7 shirts. One to make the waist and 6 to make the bottom
It kinda could also be a sun type dress...maybe with the help of suspenders or something to keep it up but it is possible just depends on how short is ok with you.
Well this  is my new skirt...it is made out of old tshirts that I no longer wear...the jacket I got at Walmart

The Fish Skirt!

This skirt pattern was given to be my my office buddy Brittany. It looked really neat so on lunch we went over to Hobby Lobby and I baught some Tolle ( i dont think that is spelled right). We found some colors that I thought looked good, Brittany was ok with a few of them but thinks that I will look like a halloween decoration lol and If I do well I will be a one of a kind halloween decoration. So this is the pattern.
The above picture Brittany obtained from somewhere along with the directions. See why it is called the Fish Skirt?!
The patten above is what is being used for the size of the skirt, the green skirt is the one that will be used.
The above is the Tolle and the the linning that will make me look like a halloween decoration lol :)
This is getting ready to cut out the pattern.
Look my Mom even drew lines so I would know where to stop cutting! :)
Wa-La cut out! Its like magic I tell ya!
Starting to put on the Scales this is going to be a long process.....
Still working on the scales...
OHHHH YEA! Done with the scales!
There is no such thing as too many pins!
Scales done!!
Stay tuned to the next Blog for the finishing of the Fish Skirt! Should be around this week some time!

Ohhh yea they are finished!

This is the elastic being held in place.

 This is the last stich!
This is the black skirt all finished!

The first 2 skirts!

I was with  my mom at Hobby Lobby and she was getting patterns for school and I was standing at the desk where they cut the fabric and noticed on the pattern how is said "Learn to Sew" and then  I noticed how at the bottom of the pattern it said "Learn Basic Skills". That was then I think the light bulb went on and I thought "Hey, I could do this!". And I then told my mom I wanted to learn how to sew she then stated that "I made her day"  :)

This is my first pattern. I am going to make A and B. The only difference in them is that B has pockets and A does not have any pockets.
The above fabric is for B the one with pockets. The trim will be used on the pockets.
The above fabric is for skirt A. The trim will be about 3 inches from the bottom of the skirt.
Look I can pin the fabric together! Also can cut out a pattern!
This is skirt A. (The brown one is skirt A) Its all cut out and ready to go!
This is for skirt B (the black skirt is skirt B). It is also cut out and ready to go.
The is a picture of the seam. The machine that I used for this does not have slow down butten it is a one speed machince. On the other sewing machine there is a slow down button lol. This machine makes the edges even and pretty!
This is when I was doing something not sure if this is the top or the bottom lol
This is skirt B and the waist-line is compleate. and reday tobe sewed together.
This is the bottom of the skirt B no rough edges!!!!
Bottom of skirt A no rough edges here either!!!
This is my trim attached to the bottom of skirt A.
These are the pockets for skirt B with the fancy trim that I found!
This is the skirt before almost done just has to go back in the surgery room one more thime to put on the pockets!
 Putting the pockets on!
The trim sewed onto skirt A! And I managed to keep the stitching where it should be lol (on the trim)
The machine bit me!! Don't get to cocky with the sewing machice or it will put you in your place lol

The finshed skirts will be posted within a few days! Gotta get some elastic!!

Feel free to come back and see the finished product! Have a nice day!  :)  I would also like to thank my friend who helped me make this blog sight, THANK YOU SARAH.

You may ask "well Rachael, why now?" and my responce is well "I dont know". Yes I could have been a sewing expert by now, but well I am not. BUT I could be cause I have the best teacher in the world!!! So this is a blog about my sewing and what I am making, I very excited about it, so read it if you would like and I hope that it makes you excited too, why? Just cause the world is much better when everyone is excited about something!!
